I AM: A Conscious Uncouple-er
a little known framework for saying goodbye with gratitude and clarity
A few years ago I was in a relationship that had run its course. It was the type of friendship turned romance that felt perfect for the time, but not meant for more.
I was on the precipice of making my next big move: SHOULD I STAY OR SHOULD I GO, Florida or NYC edition. Life was beckoning me onward and I knew that, at least initially, I needed to go alone.
The dilemma:
How to inflict as little damage as possible while communicating: this is where I leave you.
Enter Conscious Uncoupling, a little-known framework for graceful endings. In the energy of THIS and THAT: you can be grateful for someone/thing AND you can decide that it no longer serves you…the Conscious Uncoupling framework helps you navigate this tricky transition. And it forever changed how I think about parting with absolutely EVERYthing: relationships, apartments, cities, jobs, habits, patterns, parts. I have consciously uncoupled with it all at this point.
Last week I consciously uncoupled from my NYC apartment and recorded it for my podcast:
In the spirit of today’s full moon, which is THE VIBE for letting go of what no longer serves you, I am sharing my TL;DR (too long; didn’t read) version of the Conscious Uncoupling framework:
Express: Gratitude
Acknowledge: that you want to Change the Dynamic and what that looks like
Action: Change the Dynamic
This is very overstated, but it gives you an easy-access tool to experiment with right where you are.
Example: In the spirit of today’s full moon energy, I am letting go of clothes that no longer serve me. Below is what it looks like for one article of clothing, note that I breeze through this pretty quickly because it’s not that deep. The deeper the connection the more time will be needed to process.
Gratitude: cuteness OVERLOAD, this WDW crop top was all my hopes and dreams come true for a twinning moment in my favorite florida-colors (as I write this I am where bright yellow leggings and a bright pink top)!
Acknowledge: I loved it for this moment, but I haven’t worn it in years. It served his purpose, it’s time to let it go.
Action: ThredUp pile~
If you are curious and want to dive MORE into conscious uncoupling I loved the Conscious Uncoupling course on MindValley (referral link> . It is a 5 week course that I accelerated to a shorter time frame at the time, and it is beautiful, truly. If you get a subscription note that I also really liked their Money EQ course, 10/10!
